Vinicunca Mountain


Majestic mountain with a unique beauty that catches us. Vinicunca is known as the rainbow mountain because of the unique colors that it presents as a product of the complex combination of minerals. The hillside and the top are dyed in various shades that includes red, purple, green, yellow, pink and other variations.

This impressive mountain is located in an amazing natural settings with lagoons, faunas and fascinating snowfalls such as Ausangate.

    Located in the Vilcanota mountain range, between the districts of Cusipata and Pitumarca, provinces of Quispicanchi and Canchis, Cusco Region.
  • Altitude:
    Between 4700 and 5200 m.a.s.l.

Fauna and flora: High Andean area makes it surrounded by camelids such as alpacas and vicuñas

How to get there?

  • To get to Vinicunca, we must follow the following route:
  • Road trip from the city of Cusco to the town of Cusipata (approximately 1.40 hours).
  • Then from Cusipata we continue to the Town of Phulawasipata (approximately 2 hours).
  • Walk from the village of Phulawasipata to the mountain (approximately 1 hour).
