Kuélap and Gocta: History and Nature

DAY 1: JAÉN / CHACHAPOYAS | INC: –
Arrival to the city of Jaén, transfer from the airport to the city of Chachapoyas with the special service “Chachapoyas Premium Service”. Overnight in Chachapoyas.
DAY 2: CHACHAPOYAS / GOCTA WATERFALL | INC: B/L
After breakfast we will travel to the picturesque village of Cocachimba, from there we will start our journey, an hour and a half on horseback plus an hour on foot, to the Cataract of Gocta; On the way we will enjoy the great diversity of flora and fauna with the splendid view of the waterfall. Known locally as “La Chorrera”, the Gocta Waterfall is a waterfall that measures 771 meters in height and is considered among the highest in the world. It is the perfect habitat for toucans, monkeys, pumas and roosters of the rocks. It is located in an extensive forest covered with mist, in whose surroundings there are about twenty falls of water. The area offers a beautiful combination of geography and history that makes it a magical place. We will return to Cocachimba where we will taste a typical lunch. Return to Chachapoyas.
DAY3: CHACHAPOYAS / KUÉLAP | INC: B/L
In the morning we will go to Kuélap, majestic architectural work of the Chachapoyas. On the way we will make a stop for a panoramic view of the Macro Archaeological Complex, known as “Torres de Macro” for its constructive characteristic, it is located in the hillside of a hill that faces the Utcubamba river. Then we will move to the starting point of Kuélap, we will ascend by horse or foot to the so-called “Fortress”, which is built on the top of Cerro Barreta (3000 m.s.n.m). It is a place surrounded by beautiful landscapes that at first glance seems an impenetrable place since it is covered with colossal walls and precipices by three of its four sides. It contains three platforms whose interior has circular buildings decorated with friezes in the form of diamonds and zigzag. Its complex interior architecture shows its function as a well-organized population group. Together with the landscape that surrounds it, the natural spectacle that the place offers, is unforgettable. Return to Choctamal for lunch. Return to Chachapoyas.

At the coordinated time, transfer to the airport of Jaén with the special service “Chachapoyas Premium Service” to board our flight out.
