World Travel Awards: Peru named the best cultural and culinary destination in the world for the seventh consecutive year.
For the seventh year in a row, Peru has been recognized as the Best Culinary Destination in the world by the World Travel Awards, at their 25th edition gala.
The World Travel Awards Gala, considered the Oscars for tourism by the prestigious American newspaper: The Wall Street Journal, took place in the Patio Da Galé in Lisbon, Portugal this year. During the annual ceremony, Peru was not only recognized as the best culinary destination, but also as home to The Best Touristic Attraction – the internationally beloved Machu Picchu Sanctuary. The winners are selected by an experienced group of expert critics and international tourists, and the gala boasts the attendance of influential international business and media people in and out of the tourism sector. As if that were not enough, Peru was also chosen as the Best Cultural Destination thanks to its variety of archeological heritage sites, galleries, and art museums.
These awards have been recognizing and celebrating excellence across all sectors of the tourism and world travel industry for the last 25 years.
The winners are chosen based on public votes submitted to the organization’s online platform by an array of tourism professionals, businesspeople from the tourism sector, and experienced travelers.
