Tourists will be able to travel to Machu Picchu from Cusco’s center
Inca Rail has recently implemented a new route that will take passengers directly to Machu Picchu, from Cusco’s city center. This new possibility is meant to provide tourists with more options for transfers, thus bettering the train’s service quality, and benefitting those who do not wish to travel to Ollantaytambo on bus.
This way, national and foreign tourists will have the chance to spend more time in Cusco, and can depart to the town of Aguas Calientes in the early morning, in order to optimize their experience. Nonetheless, the railway transport company has stated that all scheduled departures from the Ollantaytambo Train Station will remain the same for those who prefer to visit the town and leave for Machu Picchu the following day.
The trains that are set to depart from the San Pedro Station, located only three blocks from Cusco’s Main Plaza, will have two daily departures on The 360° service – at 5:00a.m. and 8:43 a.m., one on The First Class service at 8:28 a.m., and one on The Voyager service at 8:28 a.m. On the other hand, there will be one return service option for each daily departure; The 360° services will have a return train that departs from Aguas Calientes at 4:12 p.m., while all other services returns will depart at 7:00 p.m.
