The last Saturday of September is Arequipenian Pisco Day
Arequipa is one of the first producers of pisco in South America, which quality is recognized here and abroad, this is why the regional government of Arequipa has declared Arequipenian Pisco Day and Arequipenian Pisco Tour Day to be held, every year, on the last Saturday of September.
This is due to the important growth of last year’s national production of pisco in Arequipa. The city received five gold medals in the 18th National Competition, winning against 200 of the main national producers. Besides, it is the third most important pisco producer, with an annual production of 450,000 liters, which represents 10% of the national total.
The regional ordinance emphasizes that by celebrating this day, we value, recover and promote the culture associated with pisco, the natural heritage and natural vineyards. Therefore, the whole world will know what Peru and Arequipa have to offer as an oenological destination.
