Peruvian Chef Pía León Awarded First Place In Rising Star Category Of The Best Chef Awards 2019

Peruvian chef Pía León, head chef at Kjolle restaurant, was awarded the “Best Rising Star Chef” award in The Best Chef Awards 2019, this past Tuesday, 24th of September, in a ceremony held in the University of Barcelona, Spain.

The 33 year-old Lima born and based chef, who is married to chef Virgilio Martínez (Central), opened her own restaurant a little over a year ago.

This is the second award the young Peruvian chef has received for her work at Kjolle, the first of which was when she was elected as the best female Latin American chef in the Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2018 awards.

The Best Chef Awards 2019 is an annual ceremony in which winners are chosen by their peers and other restaurant professionals. The most important award of the evening was given to chef Bjorn Frantzén, who received The Best Chef Award.

Among the awards given at the gala, The Best Chef Best Food Art Award, was given to British chef Daniel Watkins, while The Best Chef Fol-LOVERS Award, was given to the French chef Gregoire Berger, from Dubai’s Ossiano Restaurant.
