Museum of Sipan is the most visited museum in the country
During 2016, the Museum of Royal Tombs of Sipan in Lambayeque, gathered almost 200 thousand tourists from around the world.
It was discovered in 1987 by archaeologist Walter Alva, who is now director of the museum. It got world promotion thanks to National Geographic.
The museum’s main attraction is the intact tomb of Sipan, head of government in Mochica culture (300 a.C.).
