Lima will be the third most popular Latin American destination for meetings and events
According to the 2020 Report on meeting and CWT event future trends.
Peru’s capital city has once again been ranked as an ideal destination for the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) segment, also known as Meetings and Events Tourism. The CWT M&E – which oversees the CWT meetings and events global division, managing corporate travel, hotel distribution, meetings, and events – have ranked Lima as the third most popular Latin American destination in 2020 in which to celebrate these kinds of events.
According to the 2020 Report on meetings and events future trends, Lima has gone up three places from last year’s ranking. The updated list is established based on sectorial data.
In the ranking, Lima is surpassed by São Paulo, which maintains its spot in first place, and Bogota, which has climbed to second place. Lima is followed by Rio de Janeiro, Mexico City, Curitiba, Medellin, Belo Horizonte, Buenos Aires, and Cartagena.
CWT highlights that meetings tourism will be a big trend in this region next year as businesses will begin to establish themselves as event organizers on a regional level, which will – in turn – contribute to an increase in logistical and cost efficiency. This, will foster a better impact in optimizing the length and content of these events.
