Copa begins its low-cost certification process with the intention of including Lima in its list of destinations
Panamanian group Copa Holdings has begun its «La Nueva Aerolínea S.A» certification process. This particular company will be destined to passenger, cargo, and mail services. According to a communication released by the company, the airline’s main headquarters will be located in the Panama Pacifico Airport, an ex US military base located 10 kilometers from the Panamanian capital. “The new airline is in a certification process with the Civil Aeronautics Authorities (ACC), and thus has yet to define dates and routes with which it will begin its operations. As soon as the ACC has its use and operations certification, it will function under a low-cost model,” stated the press release shared by Copa Holdings. The group also shared that the airline might offer direct weekly flights to La Habana (Cuba), Maiquetía (Venezuela), Lima (Perú), San José (Costa Rica), and the Colombian cities of Bogotá, Cali, Medellín, Cartagena, Pereira, Barranquilla, and Santa Marta.
